Year 7 Robot Club: Powered by Passion and Rotary Support

Every Thursday afternoon, a group of enthusiastic Year 7 students gather for an exciting journey into the world of robotics. Thanks to the generous support of Caen Rotary Club and their dedicated volunteers—led by Geoff Triggs—our Robot Club is thriving with energy, curiosity, and innovation.

Learning Through Hands-On Coding
Each week, around 15 pupils dive into coding challenges using the Edison Robot V3, a versatile and educational robot designed to respond to commands with movement, sound, and light. With guidance from the Rotary volunteers, students use an intuitive online code-building program to bring their robots to life. Whether it's navigating a maze or performing a light show, every task is a new opportunity to learn and experiment.

The Rotary team not only provides expert instruction but also supplies all the necessary resources—robots, laptops, and materials—to ensure every student can participate fully and confidently.

Building Toward a Bigger Goal
This term, our focus is on mastering a wide range of robot challenges that test creativity, logic, and teamwork. These activities are more than just fun—they're preparation for an exciting Robot Competition next term. In this event, our students will compete against teams from other local schools, tackling a series of tasks that require them to demonstrate their understanding of robotics and problem-solving.

The competition promises to be a fantastic showcase of what our young engineers have learned, and we can't wait to see them rise to the challenge.
