Reuben Represents England at the ISA World Junior Games in Peru
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of Reuben in Year 11, who recently travelled across the world to compete on one of surfing’s biggest junior stages — the ISA World Junior Games in Peru, representing Team England.
Competing at this level is an extraordinary accomplishment, and Reuben embraced the opportunity with maturity, gratitude, and determination. His journey to the competition came in an unexpected way, but he rose to the challenge with admirable spirit.
Here’s what Reuben had to say about his experience:
“Super grateful to have been given the opportunity to represent my country in the ISA World Junior Games in Peru. It came through a bittersweet way because it meant my best friend Joel couldn’t compete because his British passport couldn’t come in time. This meant I was then called up and asked to fulfil his place. This meant I had a massive gap to fill.
I’m a little disappointed with my result in the end but I have so much to come away and learn. I just want to give a massive thank you to Surfing England for choosing me as the backup and thanks to Tiki Surf Company for all the support.
Thanks to all the coaches who have supported the whole team.”
Reuben’s humility, resilience, and reflective attitude shine through his words. Representing your country on the world stage is an achievement very few can claim, and we are thrilled to see one of our own students demonstrate such dedication to his sport.
We look forward to seeing where Reuben’s surfing journey takes him next — with his talent and mindset, the future looks incredibly bright.
Well done, Reuben — your school community is cheering you on every step of the way.
