Braunton Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We will always act to protect a child where there is disclosure or concern about child abuse. Child abuse can take a range of different forms. It is any action by another person (adult or child) that causes harm to a child. It can be defined as physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse or neglect.
If you have concerns that a child in school is at risk of harm, then please let a member of staff know as soon as possible by contacting the school on tel: 01271 812221 and ask to speak to one of the Safeguarding team or contact them directly via email:

Staff training
We follow all statutory guidelines as well as our own policies and procedures. Our Child Protection and Safeguarding policy can be found click here . Our Level 2 Safeguarding training, which is delivered yearly, follows the Keeping Children Safe in Education document which can be found here: Keeping children safe in education - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
All Level 3 enhanced trained staff wear orange lanyards for easy identification.
