Ofsted Inspections
At Braunton Academy we pride ourselves on putting the needs of our community above whatever the latest government focus is; this means league table positions are secondary to us when compared to our young people leaving as well-rounded citizens, achieving their very best in the 'currencies' of 'Qualifications' and 'Character'. However, school inspections are required by law and, under the latest guidance, a good or outstanding school can expect to receive an Ofsted inspection approximately within a four-year cycle. This time can vary depending on the level of success the school is judged to be having based on a variety of external measures.

A school inspection is a process of gathering information in order to provide an assessment of how well a school is performing. This is achieved by analysing data, observing lessons, interviewing teachers, analysing students' work, meeting with parents, students and governors. Inspections are conducted by a team of inspectors, led by a registered inspector.

Braunton Academy is committed to providing the very best of education to the children of Braunton and its surrounding villages, shaping all of our futures. Supporting both students and their parent/carers, our central aim is to build strong partnerships that recognise and respect the value of learning, investing in and reigniting that true love of learning for all that it can offer our community and provide for our children as masters of their own destiny: “Inspiring the aspirational 21st century learner”
The Academy Overview
Ofsted carries out both full school inspections and specific inspections focusing on individual subjects or areas of the school's general provision. Braunton Academy was inspected by Ofsted in June 2016 for a period of two days by a team of 6 people (one observing the process). The full report for this inspection can be viewed in the pdf document on this page. Any questions regarding the school's Ofsted inspections should be directed to the Principal in the first instance.
