School donates to Freedom Centre

Posted: 20th December 2017
The annual collection of items for those less fortunate than ourselves has just taken place. An appeal was sent out to all families for non-perishable items which can be used by the Freedom Centre or distributed to their clients. The Freedom Centre in Barnstaple is a day centre for homeless, disadvantaged and vulnerable people, including those experiencing problems with substance use. As well as cooking a daily lunch, the centre can help with basic skills and employment related advice, housing advice, referrals to hostels and mental health issues. Braunton Academy has a proud record of helping this worthy cause, and this year's appeal brought in some very generous donations from our pupils and their families. Jess Crocker and Finn McAuley of the senior leadership team delivered four large boxes of donated goods to The Freedom Centre on the penultimate day of term.

We are indebted to Jon Rodney-Jones who has not only given his time to this project for free, but has also donated many of the materials or sourced t...
